lange1_watchesThe Lange 1 is one of the most well known watches manufactured by German watch making experts, A. Lange & Sohne. This was the first watch manufactured by the company after their rebirth in 1990. Extraordinary dial designing as made it the flagship model of the company. The movement of the Lange 1 is a true representation of precision watch making and horological artistry.

The case of the Lange 1 is extremely simple with a plain cylinder. The cylinder has a straight side making an angle of 90 degrees with the flat bottom and top. A pair of decorative grooves and a slight chamfer breaking the bottom and top edges are the only embellishments of the case. A circular shape has been maintained throughout for the case, and there is no chance of the lugs flowing into the case because they are simply attached to pieces that are almost straight. In spite of its simplicity, the case is highly functional and is one of the noteworthy components of this popular watch. The design of the case is perfect for holding the dial and enclosing the movement.

The Lange 1 has a dial with an extremely unusual feature. Like most other watches this one also has a dial with indicators for second minute, hour, and date. The dial is exceptional, not for what is present on it, but for the way it has been laid out. All the elements present on the dial are placed in such a way that they do not overlap each other. There are very few watches with a date where there is no overlapping of the indicators. The outsize date is another popular feature of Lange 1 watches. The large date size of the watch is due to the use of separate wheels for each of the digits. However, the most interesting thing is that the date can be moved from 31 to 1 by a single click on the pusher. All the hands present on the dial are made of pure gold and the dial itself is of silver.

The movement of the Lange 1 is also beautifully finished with a double mainspring barrel. This provides power reserve for up to three days to the movement. Out of the 53 jewels, nine are set on gold chatons. Micrometer screw adjustment is possible, thanks to the whiplash spring, against which the index is held. There is no need to upset the previous adjustment while putting it into beat because of the high precision of the adjustment system of the Lange 1.
